Spurred on by the popularity of its first three seasons, Zimmermann’s Café Chamber Music will present its first event of the 2019-2020 season at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church’s Frazell Hall, at the corner of Lucerne Avenue and Palmway, in Lake Worth, FL, just three blocks west of the Lake Worth Bridge. Ample parking is available on the street and in the bank parking lot cater-corner to the church.
Emulating J.S. Bach and the Collegium Musicum he directed in Leipzig, Germany, who gathered regularly to perform their recent works for one another and discuss them with friends in the informal atmosphere of Zimmermann’s local coffeehouse, five South Florida composers, their co-hosts and a roomful of eager listeners will gather in an informal setting while Zimmermann’s Café Chamber Music presents the following works: Morgan Denney’s white-knuckling for solo cello; Frederic Glesser’s Piano Trio No. 2* for violin, cello, and piano; Olivia Kieffer’s Nobility of Homophones II for two toy pianos; Clare Shore’s Intensities of Degrees* for flute (picc/al fl) and piano; and Marshall Turkin’s Sonata for alto saxophone and piano.
The performers for the afternoon are Misty Theisen, flute/piccolo; Cathie Apple, flute/alto flute; Dannel Espinoza, alto saxophone; Jennifer Reason, Sheng-Yuan Kuan, and Sergei Skobin, piano; Olivia Kieffer and Logan Rutledge, toy pianos; Yordan Tenev, violin; and Trace Johnson, cello. All five composers will be present and will speak about their works; they and the performers look forward to a lively discussion with the audience between selections. Light food, wine, coffee, and other beverages will be served. Casual attire is encouraged.
Get ready to enjoy fabulous food, fun, fellowship, and beautiful music, all for just $20 (payable by cash or check at the door); students of any age are admitted FREE with ID.
