NEXT BIG EVENT

Sept. 29th, 4 - 7 p.m.: Celebrating Celia.

Celia Cruz was a singer deeply rooted in the tradition of her country’s musical history, and an iconic figure in Cuba and the U.S. Our music drama shows how history intervened in her artistic and personal life, resulting in a painful decision to defect from Cuba. Cruz used her voice as an instrument of change and resistance, in the midst of political turmoil. The program includes songs from her repertoire: Tu Voz, La Vida es un Carnaval, Quien Sera, and many others. The script is by award-winning Chilean poet Marjorie Agosin; the performance features an ensemble of cello, piano, percussion, and singing actress.
